EMDR Therapy
Healing your past so it stops controlling your present
At Tacoma Wellness Collective, we know that sometimes, talking about trauma isn’t enough. That’s where EMDR therapy can help. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps your brain and body reprocess painful memories so they no longer feel as vivid, overwhelming, or defining.
Our EMDR-trained therapists provide a grounded, trauma-informed space to safely explore what’s been hard to move past. Together, we’ll support your nervous system in releasing the emotional charge around distressing experiences, so healing can happen — not by erasing your memories, but by freeing you from their hold.
How We Help
EMDR therapy allows your brain’s natural healing process to resume — gently, safely, and at your pace.
Understanding EMDR: We’ll guide you through each phase, beginning with stabilization and preparation before any memory processing begins.
Working with the nervous system: EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or tones) to help the brain reprocess memories while keeping you connected to the present moment.
Integrating healing: As old memories lose their intensity, new beliefs and emotions begin to take root — creating space for confidence, calm, and connection.
You remain in control throughout the process. Our job is to make sure you always feel safe, supported, and grounded.
What to Expect in Therapy
Your EMDR sessions will begin with building safety and trust. We’ll work together to strengthen your coping tools and ensure your body feels ready before processing begins.
Once we move into reprocessing, you’ll stay fully aware — EMDR doesn’t erase memories, it helps your brain file them in a way that no longer triggers the same emotional or physical response.
Sessions often focus on how your body experiences memory and emotion. Over time, you may notice a greater sense of peace, emotional stability, and self-trust — even in situations that once felt activating or heavy.
At this time, we do not offer in-person EMDR sessions. Online sessions are available for clients across Washington State.
Healing doesn’t mean reliving it — it means allowing your body and mind to finally rest.
