Therapy for Children
Helping kids feel seen, supported, and understood — one session at a time
Childhood is full of change — new experiences, big emotions, and growing independence. But when those emotions start to feel too heavy, children may struggle to find the words or tools to cope.
At Tacoma Wellness Collective, we provide trauma-informed therapy for children and families. Our child mental health specialists have extensive experience working with kids in clinical and school-based settings. We use developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches to help children express themselves, build emotional regulation skills, and strengthen their sense of safety and connection.
We believe therapy should feel like a safe space — not another test to pass. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, behavioral challenges, trauma, or major life changes, we meet them with warmth, patience, and understanding.
How We Help
Every child deserves support that meets them right where they are. Our therapists use developmentally appropriate, evidence-based approaches to help children process emotions, strengthen coping skills, and build confidence in themselves and their relationships.
Emotional awareness and coping skills: Helping children identify, name, and manage big feelings like anger, worry, or sadness in healthy, age-appropriate ways.
Support for life transitions: Guiding children through changes such as divorce, loss, relocation, or new family dynamics with stability and compassion.
Processing difficult experiences: Using play, art, and trauma-informed techniques to help children make sense of overwhelming or confusing events.
Strengthening family connection: Partnering with parents and caregivers to improve communication, set healthy boundaries, and create consistent emotional support at home.
Therapy gives children a safe place to explore their feelings, make sense of their experiences, and discover the confidence that comes from feeling understood.
What to Expect in Therapy
Therapy begins with getting to know your child — understanding their world, their interests, and what feels safe to them. Our sessions may include conversation, play, art, storytelling, or mindfulness depending on their age and needs.
We’ll work closely with you as the parent or caregiver, providing insight and guidance without judgment. Our goal is to support your child’s emotional growth while strengthening your confidence in how to help them outside of session.
Sessions are available in person in Tacoma or virtually across Washington State for older children and families who prefer online support.
Every child deserves to feel safe, capable, and cared for.
