Therapy for First Responders
You take care of others every day — we’re here to help you take care of yourself
As a first responder, you see and experience things most people can’t imagine — and over time, that takes a toll. Constant exposure to crisis, loss, and danger can leave you feeling numb, irritable, or detached from the people and things that matter most.
At Tacoma Wellness Collective, we provide trauma-informed therapy for firefighters, EMTs, law enforcement, dispatchers, and other frontline professionals. Some of our clinicians have personal and professional experience in first response and crisis work, so they understand the culture, the pace, and the silence that often comes with the job.
Here, you don’t have to explain what it’s like — we already know. We’ll help you process what you’ve carried, rebuild your sense of safety, and protect your well-being for the long term.
How We Help
Our work with first responders centers on trauma recovery, nervous system regulation, and processing the impact of chronic traumatic stress.
Processing traumatic exposure: Trauma-focused therapy to help the brain and body recover from critical incidents.
Addressing secondary traumatic stress: Recognize and manage the emotional residue from repeated exposure to others’ trauma.
Reducing burnout and hypervigilance: Learn grounding and stress recovery skills that support focus, rest, and resilience.
Supporting family and relationships: Build communication tools that help bridge the gap between work and home life.
We understand that strength isn’t about suppressing emotion — it’s about having the tools and space to handle what you carry.
What to Expect in Therapy
Therapy begins with stability and safety. We start by helping your body come out of crisis mode — rebuilding your capacity to rest, think clearly, and respond instead of react.
From there, we move at your pace. Whether you’re processing a specific event, cumulative stress, or burnout, we tailor each session to your needs and readiness. You’ll never be pushed to relive trauma — we focus on creating a sense of control, regulation, and grounded presence.
Our therapists approach this work with respect and discretion. We know trust has to be earned, and we take that seriously.
Sessions are available in person in Tacoma or virtually throughout Washington State.
Healing starts with trauma stewardship.
